Over several projects, I transformed traditional compliance documents into more engaging, interactive, and impactful formats that better communicate key information and drive action.
CONTEXT
Working across various organizations, I was tasked with designing reports and tools that were both functional and engaging, going beyond the typical dry presentation of data to create resources that encouraged action, informed decision-making, and shaped policy.
PROJECTS
Digital Annual Financial Report for a Trust
I was responsible for designing the Trust’s first-ever digital annual financial report. The goal was to make it more engaging and dynamic than the traditional paper version. I designed a high-fidelity prototype and co-coded the front end of the finished product. This pilot digital report proved to be a success and was seamlessly integrated into the organization’s standard operations, becoming part of their annual reporting process.
ROMA – RAPID Outcome Mapping Approach for ODI
The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) has a global reputation for advancing sustainable, impactful development. Their RAPID team had spent over a decade perfecting the RAPID Outcome Mapping Approach (ROMA), a model designed to help policymakers plan, measure, and influence their outcomes. I worked on designing and co-coding the front end of the ROMA’s online version, ensuring it was easy to navigate and supported users in understanding and engaging with the model in a straightforward, accessible manner.
Annual Report for Action on Armed Violence
As part of a design team, I worked on the print version of Action on Armed Violence’s annual report. This involved not only the layout and typesetting but also ensuring that complex, often sensitive data was presented in a clear, visually appealing way to effectively communicate the charity’s impact and mission.
OUTCOME
Each of these projects served to reimagine how compliance and impact-related documents could be presented. By combining functionality with engaging, accessible design, these documents were able to drive deeper understanding and facilitate meaningful actions within each organization. From an annual report going digital to creating a streamlined platform for policymakers, my work consistently aimed at transforming essential documents into tools for better engagement and impactful decision-making.
LEARNINGS
These projects reinforced the importance of balancing clarity and engagement. Transforming traditional documents into digital, user-friendly formats required a deep understanding of both design principles and the core purpose of the content, ensuring that the output was not only visually compelling but also deeply informative and actionable.
